Cove Fort in Southern Utah

Rex reflecting on his days with the old hay derrick we found at Cove Fort. Oh, for the memories!
Rex and Vicky standing at the entrance to Cove Fort near Kanosh, Utah where Pres. Hinckley's grandfather built this fort as directed by Pres. Brigham Young.

One of the rooms in the fort with an old sewing machine and items from that era.

Photo from the wall surrounding the fort (18 feet high) looking into the center of the fort.

Wall hanging made of human hair in the design of a silhouette of a lady from that time period. It hangs in one of the bedrooms.

Painting owned by Dale Ensign that he commissioned artist, Harold I. Hopkinson of Byron, Wyoming to paint. It is of 16 year old Martin Luther Ensign leading Ira Eldridges three ox team and heavy wagon as he waves to his brother Datus who he had not seen for 5 months and who was in the company of Brigham Young. The other members of the family, the mother Mary, and Lydia Esther are in the second wagon with Calvin, Rufus and Luman who are walking. According to Martin's account, "on Big Sandy Creek we met the returning pioneers, President Brigham Young and Company. Datus was with them, he came back with us. Ira Eldridges Fifty being in the lead. All the companies arriving in the Valley on the 18th September, 5 or 6 days before any of the other companies."
